How to Download TikTok Without a Watermark
TapDownload is a free website that saves public Snapchat, TikTok and X videos and photos from their link. It is not affiliated with Snap Inc., TikTok or X Corp.
The quickest way to download TikTok without watermark marks is to copy the video's link, paste it into TapDownload and tap Download. You get TikTok's own playback copy as an MP4, with no logo or username on it. TikTok's built-in Download button can add the watermark, and for drafts TikTok says you must post first to save without it.
What the TikTok watermark is
The TikTok watermark is the small TikTok logo and the creator's @username that appear on a video when it's saved from the app. It doesn't sit still: it starts in one corner and jumps to another partway through, so it's hard to crop out. At the end of the video, TikTok can also add a short outro with the logo and the username.
The watermark isn't part of the video the creator uploaded, and it isn't there while you watch in the app. TikTok adds it to the copy it hands out when someone taps Download. TikTok's help page says downloaded videos "may include the TikTok watermark and creator's username, depending on the creator's settings". So whether you see a logo on a saved video depends on how it was saved, not on the video itself.
That's why there are two very different questions behind "download TikTok without watermark":
| You want | The way that works | Watermark? |
|---|---|---|
| Someone's public TikTok, without the logo | Paste its link into TapDownload | No logo, no username |
| Your own posted TikTok | Your link in TapDownload, or Download in the app | None from TapDownload; the app may add one |
| Your own draft, not posted | Drafts, More, Share, Save post with watermark | Yes, until you post it |
| A private TikTok | No website or app can open it | Not possible |
The rest of this guide walks through each row, then covers quality, where the file lands on each kind of phone, what to do when a download fails, and how to share a clean copy without leaving the creator out.
How to download a TikTok video without the watermark from its link
This works for any public TikTok video, yours or someone else's, and you don't need a TikTok account or an app. TapDownload runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer.
- Copy the video's link. In the TikTok app, open the video, tap the Share arrow on the right, then tap Copy link. On a computer, open the video on tiktok.com and copy the address from the bar at the top. Both the long tiktok.com/@name/video/... links and the short vm.tiktok.com links work.
- Paste it into TapDownload. Open the TikTok downloader and paste the link into the box. On most phones the paste button fills it in for you, and the search starts by itself.
- Tap Save. TapDownload shows the video with its creator and caption. Tap Save and the MP4 goes to your Downloads. There's no logo in the corner, no bouncing username and no outro at the end.
If you copied a whole share message instead of the bare link (TikTok sometimes adds a line of text before it), paste it anyway. TapDownload picks the link out of the message.
Pick the version you want
Tap the sliders button next to Save to see every copy TikTok keeps for that video, each with its real size. You can also save it as something else:
- MP4 (default): the H.264 copy, which plays on every phone, computer and editing app.
- Sharper (HEVC): when TikTok keeps one, a sharper copy, often 1080 pixels wide. It looks better, but some older Windows computers and editing apps can't open HEVC files.
- MP3 or AAC: just the sound. See how to download TikTok audio as MP3.
- GIF: the first 10 seconds as a GIF, with no sound.
Why the saved file has no watermark
TikTok keeps more than one file for every video. When you watch a TikTok in the app or on tiktok.com, it plays a playback copy: a plain MP4, without the logo, because the app draws its own buttons and username on top of it. The watermarked version is made only for downloads.
TapDownload saves the playback copy, the same file your phone streams when you watch. Nothing is erased, blurred, cropped or painted over, and no AI touches the picture. That matters for two reasons:
- Quality. Tools that "remove" a watermark after the fact cover it with a blur or crop the frame, so you lose part of the picture. A copy that never had a watermark is complete, corner to corner.
- Honesty. The file is exactly what TikTok serves. TapDownload doesn't change it.
One thing to know: because the file has no watermark, it also doesn't carry the creator's @username. If you share it anywhere, put their name in your caption.
How to save your own TikTok without a watermark
Saving your own video is a common reason to want it without the logo: to post it on Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts, or to keep a clean copy for your portfolio. How you do it depends on whether the video is posted yet.
A video you already posted
If your account is public, copy the link of your own video and paste it into TapDownload, exactly as above. You get the clean MP4.
Inside the app, TikTok's own steps are: open the video, tap Share, then Download. If Download is missing for your own post, TikTok's help page says to check one setting:
- In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap the Menu button (☰) at the top, then Settings and privacy.
- Tap Downloads. You may need to scroll to find it; in some versions it's under Privacy.
- Turn on Video downloads.
A draft you haven't posted
TikTok lets you save drafts without posting them, but only with the watermark. Its help page gives these steps: go to Profile, tap Drafts, tap the draft, tap More, tap Share, then choose Save post with watermark. TikTok adds: "To save it without a watermark, you need to post it first."
That's the meaning of "post to save without watermark" on TikTok: the clean copy only exists once the video is posted. Before you post, you can also save from the edit screen: tap Share on the edit screen and pick one of the save options.
Can you download TikTok without watermark in HD?
You get the sharpest copy TikTok keeps for that video, and TapDownload never makes a file bigger than the original. Searches for "TikTok downloader HD" or "4K" often lead to tools that promise sizes TikTok doesn't store. Here is what's real:
| Copy | Typical size | Plays on |
|---|---|---|
| MP4 (H.264), the default | Often 576 × 1024 or 720 × 1280 | Everything |
| Sharper (HEVC), when TikTok has it | Often 1080 × 1920 | Recent phones and computers |
The exact sizes change from video to video. A creator who uploads a sharp video gets more versions than one who uploads a blurry one. The sliders button lists the versions that exist for the video you pasted, with their sizes. If a page promises "4K" for every TikTok, it's guessing.
Where the file goes on iPhone, Android and computers
- iPhone and iPad: Safari saves it to the Files app, in Downloads. To get it into Photos, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Video. The full steps are in how to download TikTok videos on iPhone.
- Android: Chrome saves it to Downloads. Most gallery apps show it straight away; if yours doesn't, open the Files app and look in Downloads.
- Windows and Mac: the browser's Downloads folder, like any other download.
The file is named after the creator and the post, so you can find it later. Saving the video in the TikTok app works differently: TikTok's help page says app downloads go to your gallery, often in a "TikTok" album.
Why a TikTok won't download without the watermark
When TapDownload can't save a video, it tells you why. The common reasons:
- The account or the video is private. Private videos aren't on the public web. No website can open them, and TikTok's help page says you can't download private videos in the app either.
- The video was deleted or taken down. Once it's gone from TikTok, there's nothing to save.
- It's a photo post. Photo posts and slideshows are saved as pictures. TapDownload saves every photo as a JPG; see how to download TikTok photos and slideshows.
- It's a LIVE. TikTok LIVE streams aren't kept as video posts, so there's no file to save while they're on.
- The link is incomplete. Copy it again with Share, Copy link. A link to a profile, a sound or a hashtag isn't a video link.
If the saved file still has a watermark, it didn't come from TapDownload. TikTok's own Download button, screen recording, and some apps add or keep the logo.
Is it OK to download TikTok videos without the watermark?
A TikTok belongs to the person who made it. Saving a public video to watch later, to show a friend, or to keep a copy of your own work is ordinary personal use. Reposting someone else's video as your own isn't, with or without a watermark.
- Save your own videos, or ask first. If you want to repost someone's TikTok, ask them. Most creators say yes when they're credited.
- Credit the creator. A clean file has no username on it, so name them in your caption.
- Respect "downloads off". When a creator turns off downloads, TikTok hides the Download button for their videos. TikTok explains that people can still share a link. If you'd like a copy anyway, message the creator and ask.
TapDownload isn't affiliated with TikTok. It only reads what TikTok already shows to anyone who opens the public link.
